Best Kansas City Engagement Photo Locations for 2026 couples
So you’ve recently just got engaged and now you’re pinning all the Pinterest photos for your engagement photos. As a Kansas City wedding photographer, I’ve photographed engagement sessions all over the city from iconic downtown spots to hidden nature trails…Choosing a location can for sure be overwhelming. So I’ve included all of my favorites in this guide!
Library District and Downtown 11th & Central
The best time of the day for any of these backdrops is between noon-sunset. The doors to the library close after 4pm and are so pretty to capture their detail. The city is less busy during the afternoon.
National WW1 Museum and Memorial
It’s typically a bit more windy up there and best to go right at sunset. Weekends are busier with weddings and tourists.
Nelson Atkins Museum of Art
This is a perfect location for the classic and timeless look. Any time of day works because it’s so grand and spacious.
Country Club Plaza and Brush Creek
Brush creek offers a gondola by Ambiance on the Water. Fee’s of $500 p/hour. Best time of day is sunset.
Union Station
A fee of $75 but excluded on holidays. Avoid weekends because it’s very busy with travelers and weekend festivities.
Kauffman Performing Arts
Outside doesn’t require a permit but the inside is a permit fee of $1000 p/hour. Their website lists events, so we can avoid busy evenings.
Ask about the discount I offer to Kauffman couples.
Mission Hills Verona Columns
Hotel Phillips
A permit fee of $250 p/hour
Hotel Kansas City
A permit fee of $250+
Blanc Champagne Bar, Tom’s Town, Green Lady Lounge and Stock Hill
Most require a permit fee ranging from $75-$250
The Kill Devil Club
If you’re getting married at the Gallery in the power and light, we can schedule your engagement photos inside the bar across the hall.
Blue Springs Lake and Smithville Lake
Loose Park
A permit fee of $50 scheduled within 30 days of your session. My absolute favorite time of year to photograph Kansas City couples is during spring because the blooms are to die for. Here is a layout of the park.
