Hotel Kansas City Wedding | David & Daphne's Tudor Ballroom Celebration

A Historic Hotel Kansas City Wedding in the Tudor Ballroom

When David and Daphne chose Hotel Kansas City as their wedding venue, they weren't just booking a ballroom. They were choosing a setting that matched exactly who they are: classic, intentional, and full of life. The Tudor Ballroom, with its vaulted ceilings and old-world grandeur, gave their wedding day a backdrop that felt both timeless and deeply personal.

I've photographed weddings at Hotel Kansas City before, and every single time, this venue takes my breath away. The architecture alone tells a story and the history alone makes it such an iconic wedding venue in Kansas City.

Keeping It Small and Intentional

David and Daphne made a deliberate choice to keep their bridal party small. No big entourage, no choreographed entrances — just the people who matter most, gathered to witness something real. That decision set the tone for the entire day: every moment felt purposeful, unhurried, and genuinely theirs.

As a documentary-style wedding photographer with a classic appeal, this is exactly the kind of day I live for.

Rooftop Portraits at Hotel Kansas City

One of the highlights of photographing at Hotel Kansas City is the access to the rooftop. The views over downtown Kansas City are unmatched, and the light up there is something special, especially in the golden hour before a reception.

David and Daphne's rooftop portraits had everything: sweeping skyline views, and two people completely at ease with each other. We also used the rest of the hotel — its ornate hallways, staircases, and architectural details — as a canvas for their portrait session. Every corner of Hotel Kansas City offers a different mood, and we used all of it.

The Wedding Day Details

Hotel Kansas City has a way of making every detail feel considered. From the floral arrangements in the Tudor Ballroom to the warm candlelight that filled the room as the evening went on, it was a beautifully styled wedding that still felt warm and personal and never stiff or over-produced.

The bridal party kept it elegant and intimate, and the ceremony in the Tudor Ballroom had that quiet, weighty feeling that only comes when a room is full of people who genuinely love the couple in front of them.

They Danced All Night

If you asked David and Daphne what mattered most about their wedding day, they'd both tell you the same thing: the dancing. And they meant it.

They brought in a house music DJ, and by the time the reception got going, the dance floor was alive. Not in a forced, "it's time to dance" way — in the way that happens when the music is right and everyone in the room is genuinely having the time of their lives. I was shooting until my feet hurt and I did not want to stop.

Moments like these are why I photograph weddings the way I do — staying present, staying quiet, letting things unfold. The joy in that room was completely real, and I hope these photos carry it.
